A weekend changes the Yarra Valley completely. Instead of treating the region as a day trip with a deadline, you can spread tastings across two days, enjoy dinner without a late drive to Melbourne and leave room for Healesville, wildlife, food and scenery.

Start with a broad tasting at a producer such as Yering Station or De Bortoli. The goal is regional context, not maximum wine. The Yering Station lunch tour visits both estates, with wine and cheese at De Bortoli and lunch at Yering Station. It is a guided day-trip alternative from Melbourne, not transport for the overnight plan below.

Noon — Second winery
Choose a contrasting style: Chandon for sparkling, Giant Steps for Pinot/Chardonnay, or St Huberts for Cabernet. Pick one, rather than attempting all three.

Stay around Healesville, Yarra Glen or at a winery property depending on whether you prefer town restaurants or rural atmosphere.
Evening
Choose either a winery dinner where available or dinner in Healesville. Staying in town gives more evening flexibility. Confirm the walk or return transfer from your restaurant to your accommodation; a rural address does not automatically mean dinner is available on site.
Day 2 — Boutique Wineries & a Slower Pace
10:30 — Boutique producer
Use the second morning for a smaller winery or a premium tasting you would not have time for on a one-day tour.
Noon — Food stop
Consider Yarra Valley Dairy, a casual lunch or a regional produce stop. The Wine Bubbles & Kangaroos day tour names Yarra Valley Dairy in its description and includes cheese tasting, but departs Melbourne. Best for restaurant choice and being able to go out in the evening. Choose an address within walking distance of the town centre; properties marketed as Healesville can be outside it.
Winery accommodation
Best for couples and quiet weekends. It removes the drive after dinner only if the property serves dinner on your dates or the restaurant is within a practical walk; otherwise arrange a transfer.
Yarra Glen / rural stays
Good for space, views and groups.
Add Healesville Sanctuary?
Yes if not everyone in the group wants two full days of wine. A wildlife visit creates useful contrast and works particularly well on Day 2. Replace the morning winery and, if needed, the afternoon tasting rather than adding the sanctuary to an already full day.
